FAQ

How long is a standard PAPERHEAD full-game recording?
Two silent full-game uploads on 2026-10-05 and 2026-10-07 are 3:42:02 and 3:43:15. We treat those as the lower bound among verified data points as of 2026-10-10, not as your guaranteed first run.
Does a longer recording mean PAPERHEAD has more mandatory content?
Not necessarily. Longer uploads may include extra lore or secrets hunting, HARDCORE in the title, or simply more deaths and backtracking. Compare titles and chapter structure on our chapter list rather than assuming one “true” hour count.
Where do the chapter names and order come from?
From YouTube chapter metadata on a verified full-game upload (18 numbered chapters plus Interlude, Ending, and Credits). See our chapter list page for the table sourced from that recording.
Can I use these times for achievement planning?
Only loosely. Steam lists 25 achievements as of 2026-10-10, including lore and HARDCORE-related names, but we have not verified every requirement on video. Use the achievement list for official wording, not guessed routes.
Is Part 1 of a series the whole game?
No. A 2026-10-10 upload labeled Part 1 is 1:38:16 and covers only the opening segment. Do not extrapolate a full-game length from that file alone.

PAPERHEAD does not publish an official “hours to complete” figure on the Steam store page we checked on 2026-10-10. What we can cite are full-game YouTube recording lengths—clock time from upload metadata—not a survey of first-time players and not a HowLongToBeat-style estimate from this site.

What do verified full-game recordings actually measure?

Each number below is the YouTube video duration of a recording that presents itself as full-game or full-clear content. That includes combat deaths, retries, and exploration, and it excludes time you might spend in menus while the recording is paused or edited. None of these rows are labeled as a blind first playthrough average.

Recording (video ID) Upload context Runtime Notes (from title/metadata only)
8lCFpBuyIvU Pre-release full upload 3:42:02 Silent; 18-chapter structure matches release build signals
lN9-aQTMqtY Pre-release full upload 3:43:15 Silent; similar scale to row above
n5zcvblAYok Pre-release 5:45:30 Title states Full Game
joAVaBpAtIs Release-day upload 5:16:41 Title states Full Game [Hardcore]
HZsOg3eccE0 Pre-release 6:38:10 Title states All Lore Found
sdxb1znmA-c Release-day upload 1:38:16 Part 1 only—not a full game
qaYUo8TSwt4 Boss-focused edit (RUSH PLAY) 13:04 Boss compilation; not a full-game length

Recording data range (verified uploads only): about 3h 42m at the short end (two silent full clears) up to 6h 38m on an upload whose title claims all lore found—as of 2026-10-10. We are not converting that into a single “expect X hours” recommendation.

Why silent ~3h40m and ~6h38m can both be “full game”

The ~3h42m pair and the ~6h38m upload are all treated as full-game-scale sources because they share release-structure signals (for example Golden Clips UI and Secrets / Lore counters on level clears) documented in our video fact sheet. The gap is plausibly optional lore, routing, and player skill, not proof of two different retail builds—but we have not re-watched every minute to audit completion percentage.

What we have verified on video for context: a LEVEL CLEARED! screen can show TIME, SCORE, SECRETS (example 0 / 2 on chapter 1), LORE (example 0 / 10), and DIFFICULTY: NORMAL (LQBReOWnHWM@07:30). That supports reading longer runs as more collection or difficulty, not automatically “more chapters.”

For the 18-chapter + Interlude + Ending order those recordings use, see the PAPERHEAD chapter list—do not infer extra chapters from runtime alone.

What about HARDCORE and partial series uploads?

HARDCORE: A 2026-10-09 upload titled Full Game [Hardcore] runs 5:16:41 (joAVaBpAtIs). Steam achievement text references finishing all levels on HARDCORE difficulty, but we have not verified HARDCORE rules (damage, saves, checkpoints) from clear on-screen UI—only the video title and partial early footage.

Part 1: Treat 1:38:16 as opening progress only until a verified Part 2/full series appears.

What we have not verified yet

  • A publisher-stated average completion time.
  • Whether any upload is a 100% secrets + lore run without relying on title claims alone.
  • Menu / idle time stripped from any external tracker.
  • First-time player distributions (we have recordings, not a player poll).

If you are planning routes, pair this page with the beginner guide for controls and the chapter 1 walkthrough for early structure—not with guessed hour totals.
